Leigh,
I'm from Missouri, just visit for your mushrooms... since very few people there get too excited about them and/or know they exist there.
west/central or is it northwest??? I live in MO

Hi! My Aunt just introduced me to Morel hunting. She is going to be visiting us April 3-7 and nicely stated in her email that she will be coming in the middle of Morel hunting season(she is from MO). I would love to take her hunting somewhere around here so she doesn't feel like she totally missed out. I have NO clue where to start though, lol. I live NW of Atlanta. Any tips would be great!

From the pics I see looks like them folks in N.Georgia most likely start
finding blacks(morels) about the second week of March and find morels
to just past mid-April. If the weather is good may start first week of March, but if you guys know me I don't like to find the little ones so I'll
wait till the second week. Not long now. Nov.Dec.Jan.Feb.

I found about 30 in a 2 week period in the same spot -

All the other areas I see nothing !

I wonder how long it will take them to come up the mountain- if they come up at all! My one producing spot was definately at the very bottom before the mountains elavate...I hate trying to figure out new terrain !!!!!

Hey folks, I thought it might be a little late in our area for Morels but went hunting April 17th on one of my spots in the Chattahootchee N.F. and found just over 100 of these beauties with about half being pretty fresh and the rest a little dry but edible. Not bragging at all just letting those who care know.

Sorry for anyone who got there hopes up for hunting 1000 acres of land. I was never injured in construction and dont have land for anyone to hunt, someone is just pulling a prank. Good luck. Thanks for the friendly messages

I have 1000 acres of mature timber to hunt however i cant hunt the mushrooms because of a construction accident which injured my back so I want someone to hunt it and give me a share of the find. When I was able to hunt I pulled many many pounds out of the timber so the first three callers will be allowed to hunt. Honest trustworthy people are a must so if your not dont call.563-554-9123 ask for Brett.

I have never looked for morels before in Athens. Anyone want to share a good site. I'd love to give it a try, but I don't want to go out on a useless snipe hunt, you know?

Someone sounds a little jealous of the GA.Mushroom King.Disgruntled folks usually come across like that. Those pics looked like one heck of a day to me.I called and checked out your complaints and thats all they were,YOUR complaints. The day of the paid hunt was a near washout, several inches of rain from sunup until around 2:30 pm and stalled the progress of the morning hunt but it didn't shut the KING and his crew down. The area that was to be hunted was bottom land and became inundated due to the large ammount of precip. The area was prescouted and held a very large ammount of morels for the group to hunt.Mother nature put the brakes on the foray not the lack of effort by the Morel outfitter.Getting paid to hunt morels(PRICELESS)!Go KING Go.

looked at the mushroom hnting "club" web site, he had some dismal pics posted ot the georigia motherlode where people pay to go hunt with him, they pay $100> for the trip and they pick about 100 decent mushrooms between about 20 people.
Then 2 days later he post a pic of him and his buddy with about 200 huge mushrooms between the 2 of em. Hmmmmm i am not sure id feel real good about that
