Anyone found morels in Patapsco Park before? I know no one gives away their secret spots, but I'm new---from the Pac NW---and looking for good spots in the area to take my little daughter morel hunting. |

Don't bother looking for morels yet. Scouting for areas with poplar, ash and elm trees would better suit you until mid April at the earliest in Maryland. Then go back and move quickly through these areas covering lots of ground until you stumble across the obvious ones. Stop and search these areas well, then proceed with covering more ground. |

Hello, all I'm a newbie! Last year I tried some Morels while in western PA and loved them! I am aa avid cook...that and walking are hobbies...so this has me excited. Do you think I can find morels in my area? I wouls appreciate any advice...should I be looking for a type of tree to find them around it? Help please! |

hi i was wondering if anyone knew any good spot so go on a good hike and possibly find some Morels around me? i am a junior in college and i love the outdoors and i recently have this urge to go one a long walk and find some abundant fruits. |

Jeff, I sadly wouldn't expect to find morels until April. My first finds in Northern VA were April 12th last year, though perhaps some sites in the area had them days prior. I was finding half-frees first but some folks had reported finding black morels in the area on other websites. |

I live in southern maryland adn I am illing todrive a few hours to hunt these wonderful things .. can anyone tell me good hunting areas. I loved these mushrooms as a kid and would love to hunt them with my family. I am about 45 minutes from washington dc. Thank you in advance for all advice |

Sorry Jason, actually it's called Fountain Head Regional Park and is about 15min south of DC off of I-395... don't go during the evening rush by the way or it will take you 3 hours. |

Hey Jason,
You should try Fountainhead State Park in Virginia by the Ocoquan River. I don't know what the official park rules are though with regards to mushroom harvesting. |

any one know if there are good spots to hunt around the southeast side of DC. I am coming there on 7-21 for a week... and I love picking shrooms...all kinds...spring, summer and fall.
Also ...is it permited there to hunt in parks and trails
