Who is the famous noodler you are referring to?

fishers friend| |
July 08, 2010
I heard the Game Rangers took their fish too. Illegal catches. Serves them right as I see it. That tournament is loaded with fakes and cheaters.

I seen the so called famous noodlers pic in the Oklahoman it failed to tell that he recieved tickets for hooks last year and a ticket this year for tresspassing. The tournament is loaded with fakes and cheaters.

ndwoods, sorry I didnt get back with ya... I been busy and it's over I think... I stepped over a crap load that were long gone... I can't complain, I had my best year this year by far. Including all the years I hunted in Iowa... I also found 2 more killer spots...
My freezer is full, my pocket is fat as well as my belly...
I took all scraps, all the pieces of morels not used plus the rinse water and spread them in a few of my spots... I do leave the bad ones also...
My spots have produced each year, even better this year...

It's been great chatting with all of you... Fellow shroomers, good luck in everything you all do...

I hunted and I found a nice bunch, problem is they all were past the harvest point so I left the majority to respore, but I did keep a couple dozen to make a spore spreading effort right here next door in a location that in all accounts should have produced this season(nothing but elms and cedars)sooo.....maybe in in a couple years!! BTW Julio, Spotted Owl eggs are much much tastier Bald Eagle eggs! Ha Ha

Wondering if anybody would actually send me a couple of fresh morels in the mail. I'm wanting to do some experiments at work with morel spores and I can't seem to find any more fresh ones. All the places I've hunted have fruited already. I'd be willing to pay a little $ if I could get a few good fresh mature yellow morels.

found mainly old mushrooms today may give up after tommorrow.eagle eggs are good as long as you get them before the egg develops, eagles can always have another egg, kind of like a chicken, they are very aggressive when nesting. they are very popular south of the border.

for old deer,if you make it all into sausage it wont go to waste.
for the turkey some 2 year old birds have very nice beards.and still make good on the plate.

If you know how to make deer sausage,an old buck will make your mouth water.
breakfast,lunch and dinner.

Jo that is great management. A lot of folks can't see past their billfold and take all they can get for days. As I posted earlier I would bet a good batch of these go to waste and the trash man ends up hauling them off. I have seen it with fish and deer too. People shoot more than they can eat and it freezer burns or they shoot old rutting bucks that taste just awful. So they give them to a friend he eats it one time and gives the rest to the dog. The dog won't eat it so it goes in the trash. Greed leads to waste and both are bad for the future.

Speaking of conservation..if the deer and turkey pop is good that year i will usually take one jake/yearling-or one longbeard/monsterbuck.

i just leave the old burned up mushrooms in the woods..im not gonna eat them, and the woods will benifit..i own most the land i hunt so why would i want to screw my own land of future morel benefits?

Mother Earth| |
April 23, 2010
Confused conservation is a good thing. I don't know why I got slammed for taking a small deer or two to eat and leaving the old ones to reproduce, they taste like goat pee anyhow. Same with morels there are only som many a person can really use. So why go every day ad get all you can possibly get? Leave some for seed and take some stress off the mother root.

I don't see why so many people are getting offended over the idea of conservation? It's common sense to leave a few behind in the big producing spots. That is, if you want them to produce again the next year. And by reading, i can tell many of you already partially practice this, if you leave the older ones. I also give my mushrooms a thump before picking, just to knock a little extra spore out into the air.

im not telling you to leave half the crop out in the woods, but you don't have to get every last one. success isn't always immediate, sometimes it will come in the form of following years!

Good luck everyone. respect the mushrooms and they'll reward you with big finds every year.

Went out today and harvested about 150 know-it-all, overly proud and incredibly obnoxious P.E.T.A. members as under harvest of these idiots is obviously the problem! Not gonna eat'm though! Gonna let'm turn into a huge rotting, slimy mass of BOOGERS! Hopefully by doing so next year there will be fewer around having resulted from this years spores or seeds or whatever the HELL!!! Can't take any more! Till next year!

I thought I was enjoying a forum for us afflicted with the desire to search out morels and enjoy our stories and when possible compare notes. I have obviously made a mistake. I'll not be back again to post again until next spring. In the mean time, those of you quibbling over cranes get a life and get your own forum so you can stop hijacking threads on this one.

I cab tell that you have never ever tried to dry them as they do not even come close to turning to dust and they re hydrate to almost just picked size with no freezer burn or slimy sushrooms.

mother earth

you make no sense!

i will post you a pick tomorrow of the frozen ones i have the key is to freeze them sliced and cleaned individualy on baking sheets before you bag them up as to not make one big frozen clumpy mass!
you just dont thaw them but put them in a hot pan of butter! there every bit as good as fresh!

ps.... ive tried drying but prefer freezing to keep them from shrinking and turning to dust!

vc.... out!

mother earth

why would you think frozen ones arent any good?
do i need to post a pic? i really dont want to go through the trouble but if you insist i might!
they dont turn to "snoty bugers fresh out of your nose" in your words
there not anything nearlyt as bad as what comes out of your nose and not NEARLY as bad as what comes outta your mouth!
but only tasty bites to eat long after the season is gone
ill be eating them all year long!

PS...god you shoot tasty baby deer why not let them go to"seed" in your words

vc....out

hope to find a sack full saturday~!!!
