I have never hunted in Tenn. but I have SC...Easly area, and I found quite a few in friends back woods the first week of April. This was in about an acre area, to be honest I couldn't even tell you what trees to look for. Be persistant and always be on the look-out for new prospect areas. Good Luck!

What is the prime time for morel hunting in Tenn.? I will be heading to Reelfoot for a fishing vacation the end of March, the first week in April. Also, are there any spots around Reelfoot Lake?

TIA

Dr. Morel, have not heard from you in some time, hope all is well. My family is growing and well, have a new grandson (Cooper Reid). I have been busy as usual but already looking forward to next morel season. My hunting buddies were a little disheartened with last season but we may have found some new ground to cover. I hope your situation will be better this next spring. Take care, MW

Hey Dr. Morel, how you doing? We went on our trip from 5/6 to 5/10, not a good year there, came home with 992 mushrooms between the four of us. Probably about a third of what we usually get but had a great time anyway. I think the weather and ground temps were not in sync this year. Wishing you and yours a great summer, talk to you later, MW

My boss man is still finding them in front of his house on the lake. Nice 6 to 10 inch grays and yellers. He took out a couple of newbies monday morning for about a half an hour and they found several each. So get back out in the woods again if you have already quit looking in NE Tennessee, they are there to be found not left behind!

Hey y'all,
Don't give up so fast, with all of this rain and the cooler
temps it is a perfect year for the giant foot to foot and a
half tall yellows I find every year when everyone else is
giving up or heading north.

Went to my best spot on my land today only to find 3 illegals on it. Lucky I brought my smith and wessen with me and shot them dead on the spot. Cleared it up with the sheriff this afternoon. Apparently one of um was on the run and two was aiding. The blood spilled might help the morels grow though.

Pickings are getting slim, but I did find 4 more large yellows today. Last trip out for the year. 3 hours, 4 morels... starting to get a point where it's not worth it.
