TO MUSHROOM WIZARD:
It was a tough year here. It got too hot too fast and was very dry as a result. Morels don't do well when it is 85-90 degrees. Probably found about 40% of what that I normally find. From what that I see, it was tough everywhere in Tennessee. Thanks for checking up on us. I hope that you and yours are doing great. |

I just moved here from MI, I was told that Morels don't grow here, but I can tell thats not right!!!! But they grow at a different time, In MI we can find them from April to June, When is the season for them here in TN?

Hey, Dr. Morel, hope you had some luck this year, we had a terrible hunt to the north of us, came home a day early. Most of what we did find were old and dry. I believe the season is over for me. on to gardening and the grandkids. Stay safe, Jon |

We're sad to see the season end, especially like this. Flooding has washed out any hope of finding even one more this year. It was good while it lasted. We ended up with about 150 real nice ones. Certainly can't complain about that. |

my hubby is from iowa we used to find pounds and pounds of morels they go for 30.00 a lb in chicago we rarely find more than a couple here i miss them SO much.. near dead elm trees is what they say i'm not really sure if it's true tho. any one want to sell a few go to my fb acct thanks and happy hunting |

We went back out to our "honey hole" today and found 5 nice big ones...three yellows and two real nice grey ones. We really needed that rain...we're gonna give it a day of sunshine and hit it again. I LOVE MOREL SEASON! We're sad it's almost over already. |

Went out yesterday after the rains, found 45 yellows, most were dried out, but about 15 were fresh. Cedars and Tulip poplars, underbrush is getting awful thick. |

My husband and I found a BUNCH (like 90 or so) in Gallatin about two weeks ago. We went back the other day, but no luck. However, with this good rain we just got, there's BOUND TO BE some REAL GOOD ONES out there this week. We'll be back out tomorrow with sacks and sticks in hand! |

went out today found 30 yellows several large. found in hollow on bank facing north . the last time i went on friday .i found them on the bank facing south.there never in the same spot. i looked for an hour before i found the first one. i was about to give up. then i say to myself check up this bank ive never found anything there before then i see one an then another about two feet away. found 30 in 100 by 100 feet area. then nothing. they are hart to find .most of them were fresh. the yellows are coming up now in morristown. |

Found two white ones last night! Nearly scared off every living creature in the woods with all of my carrying on! They were white, about two inches tall. Looked all over and saw signs of the deer eating some, but couldn't find any more. I'll look tomorrow morning - maybe I can get a head start on the deer.
(and yes, I'm going to fry up two lonely morels and eat them all myself!) |
