| Sandy Wagner| | Defiance, Ohio | | May 08, 2009 Apply a glob of liquid soap to a cotton ball. Cover the tick with the soap-soaked cotton ball and swab it for a few seconds (15-20), the tick will come out on its own and be stuck to the cotton ball when you lift it away. This technique has worked the one time I've used it.

I agree strongly! Before I started using permethrin my annual tick count from morel season in the spring through hen of the woods season in the fall would number somewhere around, oh I don't know, 2 - 3,000. Then last year, in addition to other precautions, I started treating my clothing with a product containing this substance and I didn't have a single tick all year long! It really works.
I also use mechanical barriers for blocking ticks... I'll try to find my little article about it later and post it here as it seems to really help. |

| Vicki Vanderbush| | Carleton, MI | | vicki2(at)chartermi.net June 18, 2008 I got 1 tick on my head this year. It was a big one, I thought it was a scab for 1 day and the next I picked it and there it was a Big Tick! |
| T57| | grundy cl, IL | | June 12, 2008 Ben Gay also seems to work long with the above mentioned things. Ended up with 0 ticks after using it. bugs seem to hate the smell. |

| Musroom Guru| | | | May 05, 2008 You can eat ticks. They taste like saluted purple onions. You need to make sure that they are not fat "pregnant" , because the fat female ones can carry blood. |
| woodswise| | Rock Falls, IL | | April 22, 2008 Go to Wal-Mart. Go to the camping section and on the rack you'll find Repel 100. This contains 98.11% deet.It is a small bottle(2oz. is all) but you can't go wrong!! Spray one spray at the pant legs, the cuffs, the collar, maybe some on your hat and thats it. You will be good all day. I have also personally found that if you wear hair gel when in the woods you will very rarely get ticks in your hair! Anyway, the bottle costs $3.49. Awesome stuff! |
