The Snow It's Halloween, last day of October and the first snow of the year is here. Winter approaches. We invite you to our winter playground. The snow belt we live in produced two record breaking snowfalls in the past two years. Thanksgiving weekend the ski resorts begin to open. Winter recreation has begun. The combination of mountains, forests, trails and snow combine to make "Big Snow Country" the Midwest's premier winter destination. Five of the best ski resorts, 100's of miles of snowmobile trails, and several cross-country ski centers are all right here. You can get out your atlas and see that nowhere within a day's drive can compare. Some say they compare, but think about it, this is "Big Snow Country". Our snowbelt is created by the wind blowing cool air across the warmer Lake Superior, this makes the wind collect moisture and form clouds. As the clouds form they are driven to the south shore where they meet the mountains. As the water laden clouds are forced to climb over the mountains the snow begins to fall, and fall, and then fall some more. All total, 300 inches fell each of the last two years. Put it in perspective, 25 feet of snow, while most houses
are only 20 feet to the peak. What does this mean for you?
It makes FUN, easy! Snowmobile or ski it doesn't matter, you
will have fun in our snow. It is the best around! Some would
say it's Gourmet Snow.
