Points of Interest
Copper
Peak
Copper Peak provides the visitor with the
most unique panoramic views found anywhere in the Midwest.
From the top of Copper Peak it is possible to see 40 or more
miles in every direction. This mammoth structure rises some
241 feet above the crest of Chippewa Hill, a copper-bearing
rock outcrop. An 18 story elevator provides access to the
observation deck.
Porcupine
Mountains
Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park is
Michigan's largest state park, and one of the Midwest's
largest wilderness areas. Splendid scenery, pristine old
growth forest, scenic vistas mark "the Porkies" as the
premier wilderness area in the Midwest.
Cisco
Chain of Lakes
The Cisco Chain of Lakes is made up of 15
lakes with over 271 miles of scenic shoreline. The lakes are
dotted with many islands for picnicking and the spring-fed
waters offer excellent fishing for walleye, northern pike,
muskies, bass and panfish. The current state record musky
was caught in Thousand Island Lake in 1980.
Western
U.P. Waterfalls
There are more than 150 waferfalls across
this breathtaking area of the Upper Peninsula. In the
Autumn, the waterfalls are framed by maple crimson and aspen
gold. In the winter, they create strange ice formations. All
are spectacles of white splendor that are sure to make any
vacation memorable.
